During Monterey Car Week 2026 in California, Honda‘s upscale Acura brand unveiled a concept car introducing a new exterior and interior design direction inspired by the “challenger spirit” of the brand since it launched 40 years ago. Designed at the Acura Design California studio in Los Angeles under the guidance of Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura’s new Creative Director and Vice President of Auto Design, the Nexera Vision concept will influence the styling of future Acura models.

“We are using the 40th anniversary of Acura as a springboard to our future, with the Acura Nexera Vision serving as the design language for future Acura models,” said Tsuchida. “Our goal with this new design direction is to define Acura performance through disciplined proportions, sculpted form, and the seamless integration of advanced technology, creating an expression that is both progressive and authentic to the brand.”

Finished in Matte Titanium, the concept is defined by its wide stance, long dash-to-axle ratio, and “one-motion” cabin. Key design features are dramatic butterfly doors, active aerodynamics, and a new lighting signature.

Designers intended to signal high-performance capabilities by sculpted, muscular surfaces and an “aero-channel fascia.” An active rear spoiler manages airflow to enhance aerodynamic efficiency, high-speed stability, and braking performance.

High-performance carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes show through the 22-in first-for-Acura centerlock wheels with a 3D directional design, matte anodized finish, and forged-carbon-fiber inserts. Forged carbon is also used for the coupe’s aero-channel fascia, rear diffuser, rocker panels, inner door structures, and other details.

Hidden behind the bodywork are “phantom lighting” elements that are revealed when illuminated through the coupe’s uninterrupted surfaces.

“To reinforce the new Acura styling identity, we developed a unique lighting signature inspired by the Acura ‘A’ mark—an unmistakable design element created to make this new era of Acura instantly recognizable,” said Tsuchida. “The Nexera Vision sets the course for the next generation of Acura design, and we are committed to evolving that direction with clarity, consistency, and purpose across future Acura products.”

The ultra-thin headlights and taillights create a unique lighting signature that will be found on future Acura production designs, starting with the next-generation RDX Hybrid. In January, Acura showed a teaser of the new SUV in development and confirmed plans for a two-motor hybrid-electric powertrain—a first for the brand.

In anticipation of the first hybrid RDX, production of the 2026 RDX will be suspended later this year. RDX is currently built at the East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio, alongside the Acura MDX, using domestic and globally made parts.

Acura says the Nexera Vision concept’s interior redefines the sports car cockpit by balancing spaciousness with precision-focused intimacy. The cabin is meant to be a refined driver-focused environment, designed for performance, by eliminating distractions while amplifying the thrill of driving.

For a “grounded feel,” the front seats are fixed to the floor, significantly lowering the driver’s seating position. The coupe’s pedals and steering wheel adjust to the driver.

The black-and-white interior pairs premium sustainable materials and forged carbon alongside gloss black finishes and high-contrast pink accents. Sustainable materials throughout the concept include recycled aluminum, Alcantara incorporating certified post-consumer recycled polyester, and CircuLeather, a genuine leather made by Midori Auto Leather designed to support a more circular lifecycle.

The concept for CircuLeather was born from the idea of using the natural material to its fullest potential by converting it into fertilizer for plant nutrition. After it reaches its end of life as a leather product, it is reborn as a raw material for fertilizer to grow grains and vegetables, eventually being consumed as food. The production process is said to be highly efficient, reducing water and power consumption and making active use of plant-based materials to create “the ultimate sustainable leather.”

“Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in how premium quality and performance are defined, and the Acura brand is embracing innovative material technologies that bring fresh possibilities to the customer experience while supporting broader environmental ambitions,” said Tsuchida. “These advancements help reduce the carbon footprint associated with our products and create new opportunities to challenge conventional ideas of quality, inspiring a new perspective on what premium can be.”

Following its world premiere at The Quail by The Peninsula, A Motorsports Gathering, on August 14th, the concept was showcased at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Concept Lawn on August 16th.
