Voltoss has partnered with Spirii to deploy mobile ultrafast charging stations at harbors across the Nordics. The mission is to establish easily accessible solutions for ultrafast charging of electric vessels and ground electric vehicles and along the coasts of Sweden and the rest of the Nordics.
The flagship product of Voltoss, a Swedish company focused on the development and deployment of renewable energy solutions, is BatteryOS, a platform that maximizes the performance and longevity of battery storage systems. The advanced, connected, intelligent, and automated system is designed to optimize energy efficiency and battery productivity. It integrates both hardware and software components, with onboard versions embedded within battery energy storage systems, EVs (electric vehicles), electric boats, electric bikes, and other devices, and offboard versions operating in the cloud.
Founded in 2019 in Copenhagen, Spirii, an Edenred company, has a team of 110 working on a market-leading charge point management system and customized charging solutions for companies, fleets, and charge point operators. It also provides a charging app for EV drivers to access a public roaming network across Europe backed by a partner network with more than 400,000 charge points serving customers across sectors including logistics, fleet, real estate, retail, and energy and utility companies.
For the collaboration, the chargers are equipped with an advanced battery system orchestrated by Voltoss BatteryOS to maximize the performance and efficiency of renewable energy, with the option to add solar energy charging. They will be capable of powering both electric vessels and vehicles including trucks and buses.
The first charging point was launched on August 30th at Fiskebäck harbor in Gothenburg, in collaboration with GREFAB, the Gothenburg Region’s leisure harbors authority.
“GREFAB has set a pioneering example in electrifying Scandinavian harbors, demonstrating that charging stations can be both sustainable and profitable,” said Jonas Voss, CEO at Voltoss. “They’re now supporting the harbor’s transition to electric power while simultaneously generating revenue. This creates an appealing business case from which many companies in our operating area could benefit.”
The chargers will be operated through Spirii’s advanced EV charging platform, allowing for the creation of new revenue streams by making the chargers publicly accessible or by selling excess stored energy back to the grid operator.
“We’re super proud to contribute to this project, which not only advances the electrification of vehicles but also extends to marine vessels,” said Tore Harritshøj, CEO and Co-founder of Spirii. “While the shift to electric power does pose challenges for the grid, charge point owners have a unique opportunity to ease the strain by supplying stored electricity during peak times. This project opens up such possibilities, and I’m happy to contribute to its success through our partnership with Voltoss.”
