Vook today unveiled an Indiegogo campaign for its ultra-long-range e-trike. With it, the company says it will enable mobility from hectic city streets to rugged mountain roads with zero emissions and “with its most customer-centric and durable design, extended range, and ultimate performance.”
The company’s enthusiastic team aims to be a leading force in the electric mobility market known for innovative designs, superior craftsmanship, and exceptional customer satisfaction. For two years, it was immersed in research, exploring cutting-edge technologies that would redefine the way people experience transportation, “creating a greener and more enjoyable world that combines top-notch engineering with a reasonable price tag.”
“Vook was born out of our desire to revolutionize personal transportation while fostering sustainability,” said Henry Miller, Co-founder of Vook. “There was a lack of innovative, versatile, and stylish electric trikes in the market that could cater to a wide range of users. Our dedicated team combined their expertise and creativity to deliver exceptional performance, reliability, and comfort in every aspect of the vehicle aiming to bring pure joy and excitement to all its riders.”
The e-trike’s frame is constructed from 6160 lightweight aluminum for a balance of strength and weight reduction, with less susceptibility to rust and low-cost maintenance. The total vehicle mass is 88 lb (40 kg).
Its two 3000-W rear drive brushless hub motors have 1000 W of nominal power, with a maximum speed of up to 65 km/h (40 mph).
An optimized 62-V battery system, regenerative braking, and rear-wheel motors enable travel up to 110 mi (180 km) on a single charge with the 3100-W 50-A·h battery, up to 128 km (80 mi) with an 1860-W 30-A·h battery. A 12/220-V 8-A·h charger enables a 2.5 to 4 h charge time. Rider conveniences include a reverse driving option and a BatteryCruise control feature to set vehicle speed without continuously using the accelerator.
The batteries offer up to 3000 cycles or 3 years of lifespan, but an additional 2 years of warranty can be added to ensure longer-lasting peace of mind. The propulsion battery serves double duty as a power bank with a 120-W Type-C output, 2 x 32 W Type-C outputs, and 2 x 20 W USB-A ports that can charge smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other devices.
The puncture-proof tires are a fat 20-in up front and the rears are 6.5 in. Regenerative controllers generate energy in the braking process to increase riding range and efficiency. The front and rear hydraulic brakes with a front 180-mm brake disc and rears with 135-mm brake discs, with the rear brakes also incorporating an on/off motor brake system.
The seat is made with fiberglass and “eco-leather.” A water-resistant LCD monitor enables riders to track speed, distance, navigation, motion sensing, and regeneration information. The fiberglass trunk is designed to carry the removable battery pack and storage for items like a 14-in laptop.
Much of the e-trike’s functionality is enabled by smartphone integration and the Vook Smart app that allows users to check battery life, access GPS location, select ride modes, view ride history, and start/stop the motor. The app supports motion sensing, regeneration control, and theft warning.
The app enables the selection of riding mode: Safe, up to 17 km/h (10 mph); Eco, up to 25 km/h (15 mph); Sport, up to 32 km/h (20 mph); and Boost/Extreme, up to 65 km/h (40 mph). It also allows users to unlock their ride with various authentication methods such as PIN code, fingerprint, or face ID, depending on the user’s mobile device capabilities.
A GPS tracker both in battery and trike frame allows for location if lost or stolen and the feature requires an activated SIM card with an internet connection.
Options include red LED brake and stoplights and color options for front lights of white, yellow, or other colors for enhanced visibility. Rear and front cameras provide a view of the surroundings, with the front camera doubling for ride video capturing.
The e-trike is available on Indiegogo for 42 more days, with shipments expected to begin in December. Super early bird pricing will start at $2300 for 30-A·h and $2500 for 50-A·h models.
