California-based Alpha Motor Corp., which made headlines in December after revealing its ACE Coupe EV, has expanded its product portfolio by introducing the new Electric JAX (Junior All-Terrain Crossover) EV.

Described by Alpha Motor as a fun utility vehicle for four passengers, the JAX shares its electric platform with the ACE Coupe. The retro-styled EV comes in front- or four-wheel drive, can tow up to 1850 lb (839 kg), and can accelerate from 0-to-60 mph in 6.5 s. Although that’s slightly slower than the ACE Performance Edition, the JAX makes up for it in off-road styling, accessories, and capability. The company also claims a battery range for the JAX of 250 mi (402 km) from a planned 75-kW·h lithium-ion battery.

Alpha Motor lists the dimensions of the JAX at about 4560 mm (180 in) in length, 1930 mm (76 in) in width, and 1634 mm (64 in) in height. The vehicle accommodates four passengers with 14 ft3 (396 L) of combined storage. The estimated MSRP for the JAX is listed at $38,000 to $48,000.

Interior highlights include a driver-centric digital speedometer, a digital center display, ergonomically bolstered seating, and audio speakers all designed so they can be easily replaced.

The release of the electric JAX builds on a commitment by Alpha Motor Corp. to “move humanity with innovations in electric vehicle modularity, customization flexibility, and practicality.”

Earlier in December, Alpha Motor Corp. gave the world a small preview of its ICON EV, a purpose-driven vehicle that can be configured as a van, SUV, or truck for personal or commercial use. No launch date for the ICON was released by the company.

In a November press release, Alpha Motor CEO Michael Smith described itself as “a unique legacy in the making.”

“Our purpose-driven mission is straightforward: ‘Accelerate Innovation for Humanity,’” said Smith. “Our contribution is to responsibly design, engineer, and manufacture the world’s most desired pure electric vehicles. That innovation is on vivid display today in Alpha’s lineup of solutions for drivers inclusive of their mobility needs.”

Alpha Motor posted a video on YouTube to support the launch of the Electric JAX, and is accepting vehicle reservations on its website.
