NASA awards lunar terrain vehicle contracts for Artemis missions

The agency has selected Intuitive Machines, Lunar Outpost, and Venturi Astrolab to advance capabilities for a vehicle for astronauts to begin using during Artemis V, scheduled to launch no earlier than March 2030, with Lunar Terrain Vehicle Services contracts having a combined potential value of $4.6 billion.

The supersonic airliner gets a tapered fuselage, sculpted wings, four engines, and a “world’s first” automated noise-reduction system, and the company announced partnership updates with Northrop Grumman, Collins Aerospace, Safran, and Eaton as it plans for 2025 rollout, 2026 flight, and 2029 for first passengers.
