Australian micromobility startup Ekruzer launches today with a mission to bring gaming to life by merging mobility and technology in the world’s first “gaming console on wheels.” The company promises to be “for riders, by riders” with the objectives of encouraging its community to embrace the outdoor lifestyle, establish actual (as opposed to virtual) communities, and bring families and neighborhoods together through a shared, immersive experience.
Among the many world-first innovations created by the Ekruzer team, headquartered in Melbourne but with an expert team spread across South East Asia, are the first open-platform gaming-compatible e-scooter and the world’s first e-scooter to feature alternate reality gaming (ARG).
“Our feeling is that e-scooters, micromobility, and the sector don’t yet have a product that addresses our youthful and game-obsessed community,” said Ekruzer Founder and CEO, known only by his gaming handle, Squad Leader. “We want to turn this on its head and introduce a sector-busting whole new product range. Our products are Kruzers, which will be interactive, fun, customizable, practical, and versatile.”
Though not much product detail was provided, the company said that the Ekruzer #1 will be designed for the modern urbanite, gaming enthusiast, and for families looking to reconnect with outdoor adventures and provide a fun and innovative way to explore the city while enjoying immersive gaming experiences. The team aims to it with the longest range of any micromobility vehicle worldwide, at over 200 km (124 mi), and it will feature an onboard AI assistant known as Squad Buddy.
In addition to the goals of leading the global micromobility revolution and creating a new category of interactive mobility, a percentage of all Ekruzer profits will be donated to charity.
Today, the company’s team launches its social media channels on Reddit, X, YouTube, Snapchat, Linked In, TikTok, Discord, Pinterest, Rumble, Twitch, Meetup, Nextdoor, Yelp, Flickr, Vimeo, and Tumblr. It also showed a range of related merchandise like a jacket, pants, vest, skirt, boots, gloves, helmet, and bag.
