Rivian electric-micromobility spinout Also has unveiled its initial lineup of EVs (electric vehicles) designed to support its mission of reshaping the way people and businesses move—especially on short, local trips. The debut, under the TM (transcendent mobility) moniker, includes a TM-B bike, two TM-Q quads (consumer and commercial), a connected helmet, and collaborations with network partners, including Rivian, Velofix, Chase, and customer Amazon, to support its launch.
“Our vision is to bring together the latest technology with fun, thoughtful design to create small EVs that inspire people to adopt these more efficient modes,” said Chris Yu, President of Also. “This launch has been years in the making, and it is just the beginning of a broader platform we are building that we believe will catalyze adoption globally.”
Founded by a focused stealth team within Rivian, Also emerged from stealth in March to rethink small EVs built on vertically integrated and scalable technology, with $105 million in funding from Eclipse, a U.S. venture capital firm that partners with companies that make physical industries more efficient, resilient, and profitable. This was followed by a July announcement of a $200 million investment by Greenoaks, valuing Also at $1 billion.
Also was originally formed to examine how Rivian’s strength in software, electronics, and electric propulsion could be applied in low-cost ways across a variety of small EV types. As these efforts advanced, it became clear that the approach had the potential to unlock a large opportunity “that deserved to be its own company” optimized around different products, brand positioning, and markets.
Company leaders believe the need for transformative solutions in transportation has never been more urgent. With urban populations projected to soar to 7 billion people by 2050, they say that current roadway infrastructure is under immense strain, and road transportation continues to be the largest driver of global CO2 emissions. In the U.S., the majority of vehicle trips are under 6 mi, and only 6.9% are longer than 30 mi, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. They believe that these realities underscore the need for high-impact alternatives that can reduce congestion, improve accessibility, and lower environmental harm.
“We believe in a future where there is a broad range of transportation vehicle types available to customers,” said RJ Scaringe, Rivian’s Founder and CEO. “Just as Rivian continues to focus on building products that are inviting, capable, and fun, I am super excited to see Also launch as a platform for a new category of all-electric vehicles. Small electric vehicles will play a key role in efficient, clean, and convenient mobility, opening new opportunities for people to get around quickly and with minimal impact.”
Bike first
The startup is focused on developing a portfolio of electrified products across the micromobility space to address the diverse needs of both consumer and commercial transportation markets spanning a range of use cases, price points, and geographies. Its first product is launching in 2026 for consumers in the U.S. and Europe, followed by products tailored for both consumer and commercial use in Asia and South America.
The company calls its first vehicle, the TM-B, a category-redefining pedal-assist electric bike. It offers riders a single platform that can adapt to multiple body sizes and applications, from utility and commuting to trail and recreation. The bike features a changeable, modular top frame—with current options of Solo, Utility, and Bench configurations.
Also’s DreamRide drive system brings software definition to e-bikes, delivering an easy and customizable riding experience. With ride modes like All Purpose, Conserve, Sport, and Trail, the bike’s range, acceleration, and top speed are just a few of the attributes within the user’s control.
Other TM-B features include “vehicle-grade” battery technology with state-of-the-art energy density, safety, and USB-C fast charging up to 240 W. The removable battery can be charged on the go or used as a high-performance power bank for gear like phones and speakers.
The main user interface is the Portal 2.75-in high-res touchscreen display for navigation, media, calls, and app integration. It is activated automatically when the rider approaches. An integrated security system locks the battery, wheels, and frame automatically as the rider walks away, with real-time tamper alerts via the Also app.
Biomotion lighting of legs, head, and arms is designed to indicate a human is piloting the TM-B. Lighting in lumens is 1500 front/250 rear.
Key dimensions are a 570-mm (22.4-in) step-through height, 1237-mm (48.7-in) wheelbase, and 550-667 mm (21.7-26.3 in) saddle-to-handlebar reach. The bike’s maximum payload is 324 lb (147 kg).
The rider height range is 4’11” to 6’8”. Wheel size is 24 in, and wheel travel is 120 mm (4.7 in) with the air-shock/air-fork suspension.
Range is up to 100 mi (160 km), but the base model has a 60-mi (97-km) max.
Max assist speed is 28 mph (45 km/h), with an assist multiplier up to 10 times. Wheel torque is 180 N·m (133 lb·ft).
TM-B preorders and reservations can be made at RideAlso.com, with deliveries expected to begin in spring 2026 for the $4500 Launch Edition. Customers can also reserve the $4500 Performance, coming in mid-2026, and lower-spec base models, available in late 2026.
Quads and helmet
Also’s TM-Q pedal-assist electric quads leverage the same technology as the TM-B in a four-wheel form factor. They will be pedal-assisted and designed for bike lanes, while being able to carry significant loads.
The commercial TM-Q, also launching in 2026, is meant to demonstrate the power of a scalable, data-rich platform tailored to logistics, delivery, and fleet electrification. It is designed to help businesses of all sizes tackle the challenges of dense operating environments, with a focus on optimizing for throughput, efficiency, and total cost of operations.
The consumer TM-Q is designed for users seeking a safe, compact alternative to cars, with the versatility to handle everyday errands and adventures.
For any Also rider, the Alpha Wave helmet features next-generation safety technology and connectivity. It incorporates a Release Layer System that is said to offer a step-change in rotational impact protection. A HighBar system provides a more secure, one-handed fit, and integrated lights help riders see and be seen.
An integrated audio system, with four wind-shielded speakers and two noise-canceling microphones, enables riders to listen to music and podcasts, take calls, and receive turn-by-turn navigation—all controlled from the TM-B’s Portal and hand-control interface.
Collaboration with Amazon, partners
At the launch, Also and Amazon announced a multi-year collaboration on a customized pedal-assist e-cargo quad, with the shared aim to expand Amazon’s micromobility fleet with thousands of quads across Europe and the U.S.
“Amazon already operates more than 70 micromobility hubs in cities across the U.S. and Europe,” said Emily Barber, Director of Amazon’s Global Fleet. “Micromobility solutions like pedal-assist e-cargo quads allow us to quickly deliver to customers in dense, urban cities, while helping reduce traffic and noise. Similar to our Rivian EDV partnership, working with Also provides an opportunity to continue to innovate in this space, building on our delivery logistics experience, paired with their advanced technology, safety, and performance features.”
To ensure a premium experience and global accessibility to its vehicles, Also is launching with several partners to offer a range of purchase, delivery, service, and financing options to customers.
It is partnering with Rivian to feature its vehicles in an ever-growing number of physical locations so people can experience the TM-B in person. Later this year, customers will be able to purchase Also vehicles through Rivian online and retail stores across the U.S.
To provide service options for customers, Also is partnering with mobile service company Velofix and will announce a network of retail service locations in early 2026.
Chase will serve as Also’s preferred financing solution. New Chase Slate cardmembers can take advantage of a 0% introductory rate, and all Slate cardmembers can take advantage of benefits such as purchase protection and extended warranty on purchases.
